Online Bible Study

Hitherto hath the LORD helped us

Introduction

Christopher Holdsworth has been a Bible preacher since 1977, when he was invited to speak at a Christian Union, and later at an Evangelistic Hall near Glasgow, Scotland.

From 1979 to 1982, Mr Holdsworth studied at the Bible Training Institute, Glasgow. During this time he was seconded first to the Messianic Testimony, preaching the Gospel to the Jews in Glasgow; then secondly as a temporary part-time assistant to a Baptist Minister. After graduation in 1982 he continued his studies another year to gain a further qualification from Cambridge University, England in 1983. From 1987 to 1991, Mr Holdsworth also studied as a private student at the Free Church of Scotland College in Edinburgh, Scotland, graduating with a distinction in New Testament and Greek.

In 1983, Mr Holdsworth met with the Free Presbytery of Edinburgh, and was recognised as a lay preacher for pulpit supply within the Free Church of Scotland. Over the next sixteen years this took him to many places within Scotland, but most notably to the Highlands and Islands where from 1988 he preached with increasing regularity on the Isle of Skye until leaving Scotland for England in 1999.

In March 2006, Mr Holdsworth responded to an invitation by Jesus Calls Ministries, Bethapudi, India to visit an orphanage, and to preach around some of the churches in the Guntur District of Andhra Pradesh. This involved daily sermons for two weeks, preaching in seven Christian congregations, and a three day Mission based in Bethapudi.

More recently Mr Holdsworth has been conducting a weekly Bible study in his home in Norwich, England. Notes from some of these and other Bible studies and sermons appear on this website.
